Hello to all members! Thank you to those who have committed to the season following our reduction in membership prices, this will go a long way to helping the club in the future whilst giving everyone continued access to the courts this year!
A reward of sorts for that uptake is the LTAs new guidelines for Tennis in England following government COVID-19 guidelines. Please find rules in graphic to the left!
The main update is that doubles play is now allowed from members of different households as long as the guidelines for hygeine and equipment are followed. Our courts are now available to use under the premise of these guidlines to all Members. Please visit the Membership page if you havent already in order to finalise yours for the season before commencing play! As well as keeping an eye on the Coaching page for who to contact on the arrangements planned during the summer!
Thank you & enjoy your Tennis! – The Wilberfoss Tennis Club Committee
Hello All! Thank you for bearing with us during this unprecedented time. As you can imagine it is new circumstances to everyone and we are trying to adapt as a local club to the tough scenario the world finds itself in!
The great news is, we can now play tennis single with 1 Friend or doubles with Family members! The Courts are open with strict guidelines on using your own marked balls to serve and staying 2m apart at all times.
The even better news is we are now offering a reduced rate for membership. We have done this due to the courts being out of action for the last 2 months and reflect the time lost and the limited singles play.
The new rates are on the Membership page and form.
Thank you to those who have already paid* and please can we remind you that you MUST be a paid up member to play on the courts.
We are very lucky to have such a great Tennis club in this lovely village and we want to be able to have it for many years to come. So we will be doing some fund raising events as soon as we can. Look out for details on our website. We need to do this so we can keep the courts to the high standard they are at the moment and improve them in coming years.
Get out there and enjoy but please stay safe and play safe .
* for those who have paid in full and would like a refund for the new rates , please contact our Treasurer Karen through firstname.lastname@example.org and she can arrange a refund.
From Wednesday 13th May, following the latest measures from the UK Governments and the guidelines from the LTA. The courts are reopen to allow for singles games to occur only between two people from different households. 2m distances must occur between members at all times, as well as the use of their own marked tennis balls and equipment.
If you would like to play doubles games, they can only occur between family members from the same household. We appreciate our members understanding and due dilligence at this time in following these rules. Enjoy what Tennis we can get!!
Confirmation of membership guidelines are to follow.
All, in line with the Government & LTA recommendations the courts are unfortunately closed until further notice. All of us at the club hope everyone is following the isolation guidelines and are happy and healthy.
Also to report sadly the Mixed, Mens & Ladies York Leagues have all been cancelled for the 2020 season.
We as a club Im sure you will agree are looking forward to once again being able to get back on the courts as soon as possible, in the meantime look after one another at home!
After long conversations around the Racenight going ahead it has been decided that it will be cancelled for Saturday 21st March and rescheduled for the Autumn when, hopefully, the situation around Coronavirus will be a thing of the past.
We have tried to take a responsible approach to this situation, limiting all non essential travel/public events in hope of keeping ourselves, our vulnerable friends and relatives safe and in the best of health possible. Hopefully you will all agree this is the best course of action at this difficult period.
If you had very kindly donated/pledged for the event in any capacity please consult the Committee member who you donated to, feel free to request a full refund, however if you are happy to we might suggest you keep the bets banked with them for the Autumn rescheduling. Thank you again for your support.
We are now accepting new and existing members in time for the 2020/21 season as well those wanting to use the courts over the next year! Please find more details on the Membership page on this website where you will find the membership form and information on how to sign up!
The Wilberfoss Mens First Team, who finished a tight 3rd in Division 3 in the 2019 season have been awarded promotion to the 2nd Division! 6 months after the season finished!
After discussion with the league following a dropout from the second division it was decided that an extra team would move up from each division to fill the gaps left by the folding team in Division 2. Congratulations to team captain Charlie Dodds and the rest of the team on this news and good luck in the dizzy heights of Div 2 in the 2020 season!!
